Poetry: A Thousand Wings of Light

She descending from heaven
In an explosion of colors
A thousand wings of light
Stared back wherever I looked

The remains of her still-human form
Surrounded by a golden glow
Hung suspended in the air
Infinite eyes filled with sorrow

“Don’t be afraid,” she said
As she turned away from me
And flew off towards battle
With luminescent speed

It wasn’t a choice I could have made
No will would have been able to stop me
As my legs started moving themselves
And I chased after her, unwilling to let go.
